A conversation this morning reminded me that I am behind on my Evanovich reading. I haven't read any Plum stuff since 11. If anybody has any of her recent books and a willingness to let me borrow them, I would appreciate it. I read her books quickly so you won't be without it for long. Thanks.
oh and Happy Monday. I fucking hate Mondays. :-)

I *heart* Meemo
I just thought you all would like to know that. I was looking at the boards. Just hoping something there would make me smile or giggle or something (for a change). And there he was just being awesome and totally making my day.

The good news is they canceled a bunch of shows we started watching. The bad news is Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are real television viewing problems. What are these people thinking? It's very irritating.

two weeks, birthday dinners, AI, and car tires
Two weeks today without a cigarette. Yay me. I still want to smoke but I don't feel like I have to.
On Saturday we were going to go to Olive Garden. It was between 3:30 and 4:00 so we figured that was a safe time. It wasn't. There was a 40 minute wait. We ended up walking across the street to Chili's. I had steak and portabello fajitas. After that we went to Dicks and Shawn bought me darts and a case for my iPod. It's a speaker case. Very cute. My iPod is going to save my life on this cruise in June. He bought me a couple movies. One of them being the Black Dahlia. When I opened it, there was no movie but there was a Dru Hill CD in there. So we took it back (duh) and exchanged it. Shawn was irritated because he thought it sucked. I didn't think it sucked but zzzzzzzzzzz... There was Josh Hartnett butt so it wasn't a total loss.
Sunday we went to dinner with his parents and his brother and SIL and their kids. They all gave me money. Good thing because I need to get my doggies to the vet for their check-ups/shots. We went to this little diner. It looks like a dive but I know his parents so I knew it wasn't. The food in there was magnificent. It's my new favorite restaurant.
Yesterday, my mom and sister and her kids came over. My mom gave me money. She told me I have to buy at least something fun with it. I told her I still owe the dentist money... She also gave me an angel statue and a vanilla candle in a bamboo holder. My sister got me the most comfortable shirt ever, a bracelet, a little stuffed dog, Katharine McPhee's CD single (?), and something else that I can't remember. I told my mom I wanted another hoodie so maybe if I found one cheap enough, I'd buy it with the money she gave me. So we went to the store and I bought a red Supergirl hoodie. It's awesome.
My dad is supposed to take me to dinner on Friday. He also paid for my oil change yesterday. I asked them to check out why my car wobbles so badly and makes a strange whistling sound. (They just inspected it and put four new tires on in October.) I had asked him (my mechanic) about it sometime around Thanksgiving. He drove it and said it all seemed okay and he made a crazy sign to my dad. heh. But. Of course, I'm not nuts. Yesterday they told me there was 15 pounds of air pressure in my two front tires and that I "need to check them". I said, "dude. You just put four brand new tires on there two months ago. How did I lose 17 pounds of air pressure?" I'll be pissed if there's something wrong with the tires I just paid a million dollars for. oh and it still makes the strange whistling sound. I need to quit taking my car there. *sigh*
American Idol starts tonight. I fall asleep with the television on every night. I woke up at 3:39 with Chris in all his glory singing on one of the talk shows. I'm not sure which one it was. I watched his performance, turned the tv down and rolled over on my side. I was having troubles falling back to sleep because... well, because that's what I do... so I started thinking about AI starting tonight and wondering if it was even worth my time. I mean, of course I'll watch it, but I don't feel like I need to. There will never be another Chris. Or Bucky... whose single hits the radio today.

well it's about time
Michelle FINALLY sent me the pictures of me and Ry she took in Edinboro ... oh, two months ago. I look terrible in both of them of course but this is the lesser of the two evils and it's kind of a shame because he was "being sexy" in the other one. heh.

A bit of Bucky news: his single "A Different World" is being dropped on country radio stations on January 16th. The same day AI starts it's new season. Coincidence?

"Where Have You Been?"
A conversation about Ryan's song "Losing Your Memory" made me realize that three years ago today, my grandmother died.
Remember the day,
Cause this is what dreams should always be.
I just want to stay,
I just want to keep this dream in me.
Your losing your memory now
This song always reminds me of my grandma. (In reality, it's about "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".) Like with a lot of Ryan's songs, it makes me reflect. It makes me want to be a better person. Both of my dad's parents lost their minds before their lives. I should have been there but I couldn't bring myself to deal with them not knowing what was happening and who everybody was. I did get to see my grandma before she died. I think she recognized me at least for a second. I told her I loved her and she squeezed my hand. I asked her to tell pap I love him when she saw him. A few days later, she passed away.
And then I got to thinking about this song because it always reminds me of my grandparents:
Where Have You Been - Kathy Mattea
Claire had all but given up
When she and Edwin fell in love
She touched his face and shook her head
In disbelief she sighed and said
In many dreams I've held you near
Now at last you're really here
Where have you been?
I've looked for you forever and a day
Where have you been?
I'm just not myself when you're away
He asked her for her hand for life
Then she became a salesman's wife
He was home each night by 8
But one stormy evening he was late
Her frightened tears fell to the floor
Until his key turned in the door
Where have you been?
I've looked for you forever and a day
Where have you been?
I'm just not myself when you're away
They'd never spent a night apart
For 60 yrs she heard him snore
Now they're in a hospital
In seperate beds on different floors
Claire soon lost her memory, forgot the names of family
She never spoke a word again
Then one day they wheeled him in
He held her hand and stroked her hair
In a fragile voice she said
Where have you been?
I've looked for you forever and a day
Where have you been?
I'm just not myself when you're away
No, I'm just not myself when you're away
RIP Grandma. I love you. Please tell pap I love him too.
I want to call my dad to apologize and promise him that I'll try to be a better person.

I need another blog
and other useless updates.
I need another blog because American Idol is about to start up again. I'll keep all my babbling about it in there. Plus I go on and on about Friday Night Lights and nobody "over there" cares and I know nobody here cares but I really really get inspired by it and I want to document as much of it as I can. How I felt the first time I watched it. To me it's the best show since My So Called Life. That's really saying something in Glowtalk too because come on... Jordan Catalano. I intend to watch this show over and over again and I won't let the season's DVD slip through my hands like I did the MSCL one ($200 is a bit steep and I just can't justify it right now). If this show only lasts one season... *sigh* From my long-winded post at RTVW: "Television shows like this though are hard to come by and a second season may not do it justice. All good things must come to an end. I’d rather see it become a television cult phenomenon than watch it fade away into ratings nothingness." I guess I could motivate myself to find a board to discuss the show but I really don't want to do that. I just want to document my thoughts on it. I spend enough time with that. heh.

Ryan is engaged. As I told Jen yesterday (or the day before) this news made me happy for him but there's some other feeling lingering there that I can't pinpoint. It makes me smile and sigh all at once.

Chris Daughtry is the greatest thing that has ever come from American Idol. Will it even be worth watching? I saw him on Fox's NYE coverage. I recorded it because I knew I'd want to watch him more than once. He's a-ma-zing. I do still love Bucky, yes.

four hours and counting
*wonders if there is a way to inject nicotine into veins*
I'm wearing a patch. They have not worked in the past and I don't expect them to this time either. I was talking to Shawn's cousin on Saturday night (I got very drunk at the family Christmas party, btw, but that is another story) and he told me whatever I do, even if I smoke a cigarette here and there, DO NOT BUY another pack. He said he went out a few days after quitting (it took him almost a year to quit) and smoked a cigarette that he bummed from a friend and woke up the next day feeling shitty. I was telling him about Shawn's pool league and how that worried me the most and he told me to smoke one if I felt like it. I love cousin Jason. *grin*
I wanted to quit last week (while I wasn't at work) but Shawn told me there is no way he was sitting at home with me 24/7 while I was trying to quit smoking.
I emptied and hid all the ashtrays at home. I'm afraid to call Shawn and see how he's doing.
